The Commissionerate Police on Tuesday busted a factory allegedly manufacturing duplicate cement in the outskirts of Bhubaneswar.

According to sources, the duplicate cement manufacturing unit was operating from a godown at Bhagabanpur Industrial Estate in Patrapada area from 2002.

The factory was allegedly being run by one Jiten Sibani who has been detained by police following the raid at the unit.
Police said the unit used to mix genuine cement with marble dust and artificial colours before packing the stocks in the name of various reputed cement brands. Along with duplicate cement, the unit also produced fake white cement, wall putty and colours.

“Based on an intelligence input, we conducted the raid at the factory and seized thousands of fake cement bags. The owner of the factory has been detained for interrogation,” said a police official.

“A detailed probe will be launched to ascertain the entire supply chain of the fake cement consignments,” he said.
Earlier in February, the Commissionerate Police had busted another fake cement factory at Jagatpur area in the outskirts of Cuttack.
