The Commissionerate Police will soon send two special teams to Delhi and Uttar Pradesh to carry out further probe in connection with the notorious ‘Bawaria gang’.

Recently, the Commissionerate Police had arrested four members of the notorious ‘Bawaria gang’ (a nomadic clan from Uttar Pradesh). The gang members were involved in at least 28 cases in different parts of the state, including Cuttack, Cuttack Rural, Puri, Khorda, and Bhadrak districts.

Sources said that the Commissionerate Police will also move court seeking a seven-day remand of the four members of the Bawaria gang. It is expected that the Commissionerate Police will try to ascertain the involvement of the gang members in other crimes in Bhubaneswar and other parts of the state.

"This gang members used to visit various districts and commit a series of snatching and other crimes. After committing the crime, they used to return to their native places,” Bhubaneswar DCP Prateek Singh told earlier.
