Commissionerate Police forms HER to deal with Road Romeos with iron hand

Road Romeos beware! Your acts could land you behind bars. The Bhubaneswar -Cuttack Commissionerate Police has formed a Highly Efficient Response (HER) team to come swiftly to the rescue of women and girls and take Road Romeos to task for harassment. 

In order to deal Road Romeos with an iron hand, the Commissionerate Police has formed a 14-member Highly Efficient Response (HER) team. The team members will move around the city, looking for those who are stalking, causing harassment or passing lewd comments to the ladies. Once caught, they won’t be let off the hook, informed sources. 

At the same time, a victim can send a text message or dial 112 or 6372500400. The HER team would reach the spot, rescue the complainant and take the tormentors to task.

The police would keep the identities of the complainants secret.  

“For the safety and security of women, HER team has been formed. The team comprises inspectors, sub-inspectors and constables. We are taking strict action against the miscreants involved in eve-teasing or stalking women. So far we have registered six such cases,” said ACP Anjana Tudu. 

Notably, the HER team arrested two persons for allegedly harassing a woman during the Ram Navami celebration at Kharavela Nagar on Wednesday.
