Another government official in Odisha has come under the scanner of the Vigilance department for allegedly accumulating disproportionate assets. The Vigilance sleuths on Tuesday raided the office, residence and other property of Manoranjan Nayak, an Assistant Collector posted at the ADM's office in Rourkela.

Simultaneous raids were carried out at five places by four teams of the anti-corruption wing comprising officials from Rourkela, Sundargarh, Jharsuguda and Deogarh

Refuting the allegations, officer Manoranjan Nayak said it is a conspiracy against him.

“I only have one house in possession which I built in 2003 after availing loan from bank,” he said.

Nayak’s two houses in Chhend, office in Uditnagar, and flat in Bhubaneswar’s Gothapatna were among the places which have been raided by the Vigilance teams.

“Search is underway at his several properties. The valuation of the assets traced so far has not been conducted yet,” said Akshay Mishra, Vigilance SP.
