At least eight workers are in critical condition following a carbon monoxide gas leak at Rourkela Steel Plant. The incident occurred during repair work at blast furnace number-5. Injured workers are receiving treatment in ICU at Ispat General Hospital.

Six students who were doing an internship at NIT, Rourkela had gone to Vedvyas temple. While bathing in the Brahmani river there, they reportedly slipped into the deep of the river.

In Rourkela, two more deaths at the Government Hospital raise the suspected heatstroke death toll to 16 in Sundargarh District. Authorities are transferring critical patients to Hi-Tech Hospital in Bhubaneswar as preventive steps continue.

Superintendent of the RGH, Sudharani Pradhan informed that eight of the persons were received dead while two others died after reaching the hospital. “It has not been established that they have died of heatstroke. That has happened for unknown reasons. We are unable to give their history,” she said.

Union Minister Amit Shah predicted a significant victory for BJP in the upcoming Odisha elections, emphasizing the need for a 'double-engine' government under PM Modi to foster development. He criticized the current BJD-led government's handling of various cultural and developmental issues and outlined BJP's commitments, including infrastructural improvements and support for tribal communities.

While doctors claimed brain haemorrhage caused by high blood pressure to be the possible reason of the UTP's death, family members alleged torture inside jail to be the reason behind his death.  

NIT Director Prof. Karanam Uma Maheshwar Rao exuded hope that students of NIT cracking the UPSC exams will increase in the days to come. “The students who had determination and worked accordingly got success,” he observed.

The BJP has fielded its heavyweight and three-time MLA Dilip Ray against BJD’s Sarada Prasanna Nayak. The Congress has fielded Birendranath Patnaik.

Officials of the district administration, senior police officials and representatives of 58 Akhada committees were present at the meeting which was presided over by the Rourkela SP. Traffic management and procession timings were discussed at the meeting.

As per the rules, one need to have run for 65 kms in 12 hours and one cannot touch the machine when in motion.

Dilip Ray told the media, "No leader of Odisha has been received by people like I was received here. I am really emotional over such a warm welcome. The people have handed me victory even without contesting elections.”

The Rourkela Assembly seat is likely to witness a high-octane fight as BJD has nominated Dilip Ray’s arch-rival, Sarada Nayak.

The accused has been identified as Kadam Sadashiv, a resident of Telangana. He allegedly posed himself as an RPF official on his Instagram account and managed to establish romantic relationships with some girls. Later the accused allegedly tricked the gullible girls into paying him handsomely.  

The two robots developed by NIT Rourkela students can prevent mishaps by inspecting the condition of dams and bridges well in advance.  

While the MCC enforcement was a bit fast in Rourkela, it was found to be dead slow in Bhubaneswar.
