Call it conspiracy theory or bizarre happenstance, but slowly claims regarding induction of electromagnetism in body after administration of Covid vaccines are spreading like wildfire.
While such reports have now become a topic of debate in the country, Odisha has also now joined the chorus after videos from several parts of the State asserting such idea have gone viral on social media.
Where It All Came From
The first such incident came to the limelight after a senior citizen from Nasik in Maharashtra claimed that he had developed magnetic powers after taking the second dose of Corona vaccine.
Named, Arvind Sonar, the resident argued that metal objects have been easily sticking to his body. In no time, as a video released by him stormed the internet, netizens took to the cyber space to express awe and concerns at the same time over the claims.
And In Odisha..
Now even people from Odisha have come forward to express that such incidents have happened with them as well.
A local of Phulbani, Sudhir Behera narrates how he came to know about his ‘supernatural’ abilities.
“When I saw the Nasik man speaking out on his newfound feature in body, I myself examined and surprisingly found that iron objects are infact sticking to my body,” said a bewildered Sudhir.
Rajendra Mohapatra, another resident from Balasore’s Nilagiri told OTV that initially he rejected such phenomenon that it might be due to sweating from the body.
“Even I did not buy the idea but now, It seems that I too have probably developed such kind of tendency,” said Mohapatra.
Fact Check
But from top international bodies to health organisations, experts and even the government have all rubbished such claims as purely hypothetical and baseless.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, America’s national health agency has clarified that there is no proof of any ingredients in the COVID-19 vaccines that would generate an EMF in the body.
India’s Health Ministry has also debunked such social media posts and termed them as attempts to propel mistrust among the public on vaccination against Covid-19.
The PIB, the mouthpiece of the government has issued an information fact-checker saying that Covid vaccines are completely safe and in fact extremely important to fight against the pandemic.
“As far as we know that human bodies are exposed to myriad forms of electromagnetic waves all throughout their lives and almost all of them are harmless. People’s bodies are also radiating EMF but there exists no evidence to prove that such fields can adversely affect human health. Even the idea behind the vaccines inducing EMF is even more ludicrous,” said a doctor Prasant Parida.
