At least 43 succumbed while 6,019 people were tested positive for Covid-19 infection in the last 24 hours in Odisha, informed the State Health and Family Welfare Department on Wednesday.

With this, the cumulative Covid-19 count in the State stood at 8,25,110 while the death toll jumped to 3,080. The active cases in the State remained at 65,336 and 7,56,641 patients have so far recovered from the disease, as per the data of Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department.

Of the fresh cases spread across 30 districts, 3,397 were detected among people in quarantine and  2,622 were local infections.

While five fatalities were reported from Khordha district, four each deaths were detected from Sundargarh, Angul, Cuttack and Jharsuguda, three each from Boudh, Bolangir and Bargarh, two each from Ganjam, Puri and Mayurbhanj and one each deaths from Balasore, Dhenkanal, Kendrapara, Koraput, Nuapada, Rayagada and Sambalpur districts, H&FW department.

As per the data released by the I&PR department, Khordha continued to remain the most affected district and recorded 796 fresh Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours while Cuttack with 531 cases remained second in the list.

Jajpur reported 406 cases followed by Angul (335), Mayurbhanj (333), Puri (324), Dhenkanal (291), Balasore (286), Sundargarh (283), Bhadrak (262), Kendrapada (218), Jagatsinghpur (196), Nayagarh (191), Nabarangpur (151), Koraput (142), Sambalpur (131), Bargarh (122), Keonjhar (120), Rayagada (108), added the I&PR department.

Other districts which reported cases below 100 are as follows- Malkangiri (85), Boudh (79), Kandhamal (76), Ganjam (73), Kalahandi (70), Balangir (66), Sonepur (65), Jharsuguda (41), Gajapati (34), Deogarh (24) and Nuapada (23).

The State has so far tested a total of 1,23,87,968 samples including 68,778  onTuesday. Odisha’s positivity rate stands at 6.71 percent.
