Salaar 2 soon to start rolling! Producer calls Prabhas-led sequel an 'Absolute Behemoth'

The roar of Salaar is far from over. Ever since Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire stormed theatres worldwide, anticipation for its sequel has continued to intensify. Director Prashanth Neel’s upcoming chapter, Salaar 2: Shouryaanga Parvam, remains one of Indian cinema’s most eagerly awaited spectacles, with fans awaiting the return of Rebel Star Prabhas as the fierce and enigmatic Deva aka Salaar.

While Neel has been occupied with a project starring Jr NTR, tentatively titled Dragon, and Prabhas continues balancing multiple big-budget ventures, fresh developments indicate that the sequel is finally gathering momentum.

Production Set to Begin Soon!

During a recent conversation with Variety India, producer Vijay Kiragandur confirmed that Salaar 2 is officially moving forward and will soon enter production. Calling the sequel "an absolute behemoth," Kiragandur revealed that preparations are already underway to take the ambitious project onto floors.

According to the producer, fan excitement has reached overwhelming levels, with the team frequently receiving messages demanding updates about the sequel’s progress.

"Prashanth Neel is one of the finest directors working today, and like all great artists, he is his own toughest critic," Kiragandur said.

He further noted that although Neel believed the first instalment could have achieved even more, the film’s performance tells a powerful success story.

A Strong Legacy to Build Upon

Released to massive global attention, Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire emerged as a box-office powerhouse while also dominating streaming charts post-release. The film quickly became one of the most-watched Indian titles on OTT platforms, strengthening expectations for the next chapter.

"Building on that massive foundation, Salaar 2 is going to be an absolute behemoth. We are constantly inundated with fan requests regarding its development, and we are thrilled to share that we will be diving into production on it very soon," Kiragandur said.

Hombale Films’ Global Vision for Indian Cinema

Beyond Salaar 2, Kiragandur also shared the broader ambitions of Hombale Films. The production powerhouse is now expanding its overseas distribution network with a clear mission — taking Indian storytelling to international audiences.

Known for blockbuster successes like KGF: Chapter 1, KGF: Chapter 2 starring Yash, and Kantara series led by Rishab Shetty, the banner has played a pivotal role in elevating Kannada cinema onto the global stage.

"Our objective goes beyond Kannada cinema. We want to take all Indian stories global. India has many deeply rooted cultural stories, and we have only just started exploring them," he said.

Kiragandur added that the studio is actively exploring collaborations beyond regional boundaries, including distribution opportunities across South Asia and even Latin American markets.
