Speculation around Salaar: Part 2 – Shouryanga Parvam gained momentum over the past few days after reports suggested that the sequel to Prabhas’ 2023 action film had been stalled.
The buzz intensified following a report by Deccan Chronicle, which claimed that the project had been put on hold indefinitely after the box office fate of The Raja Saab.
According to the report, director Prashanth Neel and Prabhas were said to be reconsidering the sequel’s approach. A source quoted in the report stated that Salaar 2 was being completely revamped, as “what worked three years ago won’t work now,” adding that the changes were meant to cater to evolving audience tastes. The report quickly triggered anxiety among fans, many of whom feared long delays or major changes to the franchise.

Makers shut down speculation with Instagram post
Putting all rumours to rest, the makers of Salaar responded in a subtle yet impactful way. On the occasion of Shruti Haasan’s birthday, the team shared a picture on their official Instagram handle that immediately caught fans’ attention.

The image featured Shruti Haasan and Prabhas smiling as they looked into a phone together, reigniting excitement around the sequel. The caption read, “Aadya showing Deva what happens to her in #Salaar2!! What do you think it is?”
The post was widely seen as a clear indication that Salaar 2 is very much alive and progressing as planned. Fans flooded the comments section with excitement, with reactions ranging from “Finally seen Deva smiling” to “Give trailer?” and “Madly waiting.” Many also speculated about intense confrontations in the sequel, especially between Deva and Varada.

What’s next for Prabhas and the Salaar franchise
Salaar: Part 1 – Ceasefire, directed by Prashanth Neel, was released on December 22, 2023, in multiple languages and went on to collect ₹650 crore worldwide. Set in the fictional city of Khansaar, the film explored the transformation of two friends into rivals, with Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran playing central roles.
Salaar 2 is expected to pick up from where the first part ended, further delving into the growing conflict between their characters.
Meanwhile, Prabhas has also announced his next major project, Spirit, which is slated for a worldwide release on March 5, 2027.
