Bollywood is abuzz with news of Deepika Padukone’s sudden exit from two high-profile projects - Prabhas’ Spirit and the Kalki 2898 AD sequel. While fans were thrilled by her announcement of beginning work on King opposite Shah Rukh Khan, reports suggest she may also have a cameo in Allu Arjun’s upcoming film AA22xA6 (working title).
Amidst this wave of updates, attention has now shifted to her husband Ranveer Singh, who appears to have faced yet another major professional setback. Reports indicate that the much-anticipated Shaktimaan movie trilogy may have been shelved.

Shaktimaan Shelved?
According to a report by Deccan Chronicle, the grand superhero project based on the legendary TV show Shaktimaan has allegedly been scrapped.
The trilogy, which was rumoured to be helmed by director Basil Joseph, reportedly fell apart due to unresolved creative differences and production hurdles.
A source claimed that the challenges of mounting a large-scale superhero franchise left the filmmaker “disheartened,” with ego clashes, budgetary excesses, and numerous roadblocks contributing to the project’s collapse.
The insider further added, “The project consumed two years of his life and left him vowing to stay away from Hindi cinema.”
Third Major Blow for Ranveer Singh?
If the reports are anything to go by, this marks the third big project featuring Ranveer Singh to suffer a similar fate. Earlier, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Baiju Bawra and Prashant Varma's ambitious project Brahma Rakshasa were also reported to be shelved.
For an actor known for his versatility and energy, these back-to-back setbacks could be considered a major blow to his career trajectory.
Mukesh Khanna on Casting Clashes
Interestingly, veteran actor Mukesh Khanna - the OG Shaktimaan - had hinted at roadblocks in the project long ago. While initially optimistic, he later revealed in an interview with Galatta India that the Rs 600-crore trilogy had been stuck due to “technical issues” and, more importantly, a casting clash.
Khanna explained, “Right now, the matter is stuck on casting. The entire film is yet to be made. You can’t cast someone who looks like Raavan in the role of Ram. Today’s kids need Shaktimaan.”
Basil Joseph’s Bollywood Setback
A couple of days back, director Abhinav Kashyap also mentioned that Malayalam filmmaker and actor Basil Joseph confided in him about wasting nearly two years in Bollywood trying to bring Shaktimaan to life.
The frustrations of navigating creative and logistical hurdles appear to have derailed the project entirely.

Fans Await Clarity
Despite the swirling rumours, no official statement has been made by the production team. For now, the fate of the Shaktimaan trilogy remains uncertain, leaving fans waiting eagerly for clarity on whether India’s most iconic superhero will ever return to the big screen.
