Deepika Padukone begins shooting for King with SRK after losing Prabhas' Kalki 2898 AD Sequel and Spirit
Actress Deepika Padukone has been in the headlines following her exit from two high-profile ventures- Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD sequel and Sandeep Reddy Vanga's Spirit, both opposite Prabhas. Yet, the actress has turned this shift into a new milestone. She has officially begun shooting for her sixth collaboration with Shah Rukh Khan in King, following the success of their last outing together in Jawan.
Marking the special day, Deepika took to Instagram and shared a candid moment from the film’s first day of shoot. The picture showed her holding SRK’s hand, accompanied by a heartfelt note, “The very first lesson he taught me almost 18 years ago while filming Om Shanti Om was that the experience of making a movie, and the people you make it with, matter far more than its success. I couldn’t agree more and have applied that learning to every decision I’ve made since. And that’s probably why we’re back making our 6th movie together? #king #day1” (sic)
Her words reflected the deep bond the two stars have shared ever since her Bollywood debut.
According to earlier media reports, SRK was keen on having his Om Shanti Om co-star as part of King right from the start. However, her schedules initially clashed as she was on a break to spend time with her newborn and focusing on getting back in shape. With the film’s timeline pushed, the dates finally aligned, making way for her to come onboard.
Contrary to earlier buzz about a cameo, sources confirm that Deepika is not stepping in for a brief role. Instead, she will be seen in a full-fledged character, ensuring that her presence in King is both significant and impactful.
