In a shocking incident from South Bengaluru, a 65-year-old former employee of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has been arrested for allegedly killing his wife inside their apartment. The incident occurred at the Virtuoso apartment complex in Bommanahalli, leaving residents stunned and the community in disbelief.

According to police, the accused allegedly strangled his wife using a towel on Wednesday and remained inside the residence until he was taken into custody.

Police Reveal Preliminary Findings

Officials identified the accused as Nageshwar Rao, a scientist. Investigators stated that he was reportedly undergoing treatment for depression and had been experiencing emotional distress. Authorities indicated that he allegedly intended to take his own life following the incident.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Whitefield) Saidulu Adavath was quoted as saying that there appeared to be no other major motive behind the act based on initial findings. The police have launched a detailed investigation to establish the complete sequence of events.

The case has once again brought attention to the seriousness of untreated or severe depression, particularly among senior citizens.

Mental health professionals stress the importance of timely intervention, consistent therapy, and family support when individuals show signs of prolonged emotional distress or suicidal thoughts.
