Bhubaneswar: It seems Bhubaneswar has become the crime capital in Odisha as there has been no let up to the growing crime instances in the city since the past couple of months.

A day after an engineer was brutally assaulted with sword and robbed on Wednesday, criminals looted cash and gold ornaments worth around Rs 7 lakh from the residence of a professor at the Odisha University of Agriculture Technology (OUAT) on Thursday.

As per reports, the professor and his family were not present at their residence when the burglary took place.

Apart from cash and gold ornaments, the miscreants took away a laptop, mobile phones and other valuables from the house.

A complaint in connection has been registered with Khandagiri police station.
