Amid intensification of party campaigns ahead of the polling, several government employees have been accused of violating the law as well as the model code of conduct. The recent controversy is with respect to the stringent rules prohibiting government employees from indulging in political activities and election campaigning. Just a day after the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accused Kendrapara Mission Shakti Women’s Maha Sangha President Sanjukta Satapathy of indulging in political activities, a government teacher has been spotted campaigning for BJD in Jajpur.Aftabudin Khan, posted at Borei Primary School under Binjharpur block in Jajpur district was recently spotted campaigning along with Jajpur BJD MP candidate Sharmistha Sethi. Several pictures of Khan's campaigning with the BJD candidate have now gone viral on social media.Alleging violation of code of conduct, Odisha BJP has demanded action against the accused.When contacted, Jajpur Collector Nikhil Pawan Kalyan said that the administration has got 7 complaints as of now and they are trying to resolve the issue one by one as soon as possible. He said and we quote, ‘wherever the model code of conduct is affected, we will take action against that.’
