Once a prominent BJD MLA, he is now a humble farmer. Meet Angada Kanhar, who leads a simple life now, working in the fields with a plough alongside his son and daughter-in-law. Far away from the VIP culture, Kanhar has embraced a life grounded to the mother earth, proving that despite putting years in active politics, staying connected to the roots is what truly matters.

The former MLA of Phulbani has transitioned from cultivating socio-welfare measures to cultivating crops with his family. When asked, he delivers a clear message- 'the progress of a farmer is the progress of the nation'.

Since 1983, Angada had been actively involved in politics, serving four times as Sarpanch, twice as a District Council Member, and once as Phiringia Block Chairperson. In 2019, he was elected MLA from the Phulbani constituency. Despite his long political career, Angada has stayed away from the clutches of modernity or VIP culture.

Angada owns approximately 29 acres of land, of which 20 acres are used for farming. There, he grows various crops, including the nutritious Kalabati rice, which he emphasizes is beneficial for controlling diabetes, and black turmeric, known for its medicinal properties. Moreover, he also plans to start dragon fruit farming soon. Angada’s daughter-in-law, Jyotima Pradhan, and son, Purnachandra Kanhar, share his vision and work alongside him in the fields.
