It is a well-established fact that the attrition rate of leading IT companies in India is now at an all-time high. As a result, companies are facing acute talent crunch as voluntary job switching & resignations are rising. To survive this talent shortage, tech biggies like Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys, Wipro, and others have stepped up hiring and also going for big-ticket raises this year.

At the same time, mid-sized IT firms in India such as L&T Infotech (LTI), Persistent Systems, Mindtree, and many others are focusing on freshers. Their 3-step strategy to beat the talent squeeze is to hire, train & deploy freshers to meet their requirements.

L&T Infotech has announced that not only engineering talent, the company is also planning to hire non-technical people and put them through a six-month training programme in order to meet the demand for specific skills. Speaking to financial daily (Economic Times), L&T Infotech CEO, Sanjay Jalona said that they are hiring another 1,000 people on a hire-train-deploy basis.

Similarly, Sandip Kalra, CEO of Persistent Systems said that they want to hire people who are engineers by training from other industries. According to Persistent Systems, they can train and deploy this kind of talent. Meanwhile, Mindtree is also reskilling its employees and also trying to find out other ways to increase the talent supply.

According to the financial daily,, these mid-sized IT companies are also working on their employer brand as well to better attract freshers and lateral hires as compared to their larger peers.
