After bagging gold medal at the Tokyo Paralympics 2020, Badminton champion, Pramod Bhagat returned to Odisha on Friday (Sept 10).
It was a sheer experience of ‘dream come true’ for World No.1 para shuttler and newly crowned Tokyo Paralympics gold medallist Pramod Bhagat, when he met cricketing legend ‘Master Blaster’ Sachin Tendulkar at his residence in Mumbai
Bhagat received a grand welcome on his arrival at the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport in New Delhi, where fans lifted him on their shoulders and took out a procession celebrating his victory in the Tokyo Paralympics.
Badminton was for the first time included as an official sport at the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, and Indian para-shuttlers put on a stunning show with some aggressive and tactical strategy of play, right from the word go. India had sent five shuttlers to Paralympics and all five reached at least the semis. Four players - Pramod Bhagat, Krishna Nagar, Suhas Yathiraj and Manoj Sarkar produced historic and magical performances in the para-badminton games to etch their names in record books.

World No-1 Para Shuttler Pramod Bhagat has officially qualified for the Tokyo 2020 Paralympics. The top ranked player from Odisha received the call from the Badminton World Federation on Tuesday. The mega event is set to take place in Japan’s Tokyo from August 25 to September 5, 2021.
