Away from the election, the rules for the common person awaiting the festivities are quite different. There have been several restrictions in Odisha ranging from the absurd to the downright bizarre.

Rudra Pratap polled 96,972 (53.6 per cent) votes while BJP’s Ashrit Pattanayak garnered 76,056 (42.04 per cent) votes. Congress candidate Bishwokeshan Harichandan Mohapatra emerged distant third and polled 4,261 votes, a meagre vote share of 2.36 per cent.

EVMs at booths number 154 at Kausalyapur, 158 at Puba, 161 at Lakshminarayanpur, 167 at Kunjar, 169 at Seula and 173 at Binayakpur in Pipili developed technical glitches, disrupting and delaying the voting process in the early hours

The polling process started at as many as 348 booths across the constituency from 7 am, and it will continue till 6 pm today

All the preparations are in the final stage with polling parties reaching various booths and conducting rehearsals for the high-voltage bypoll

With Pipili by-election slated to be held on September 30, Chief Electoral Officer of Odisha, Sushil Lohani on Tuesday shared the updates on preparations. According to Lohani, the silence period started from Monday (September 27) evening 6 PM.
