With Pipili by-election slated to be held on September 30, Chief Electoral Officer of Odisha, Sushil Lohani on Tuesday shared the updates on preparations. According to Lohani, the silence period started from Monday (September 27) evening 6 PM.
The dispersal of polling personnel has started in a staggered manner to avoid gatherings. A total of 1,490 polling personnel have been engaged including reserves and 700 additional personnel have been arranged for ensuring Covid protocols are followed at polling booths.
Almost 2,000 police personnel including 3 companies of Border Security Force have been deployed to maintain law and order. As many as 201 booths have been designated as critical.
