Tilak posted an Instagram Story, sharing a selfie along with a heartfelt message thanking fans for their support. “Thank you for all the overwhelming love! Already on the road to recovery, and I’ll be back on the field sooner than you know it,” he wrote, offering reassurance at a time when uncertainty surrounded his comeback.

What Happened in Rajkot

The 23-year-old underwent surgery for testicular torsion after experiencing acute discomfort during Hyderabad’s Vijay Hazare Trophy match against Bengal in Rajkot. Given the nature of the condition, medical intervention was carried out promptly. Tilak underwent the procedure on Wednesday, remained with the squad briefly, and then travelled back with the team.

Why the Update Matters

News of the surgery had raised concerns about Tilak’s short-term availability, especially with India’s T20I series against New Zealand set to begin on January 21 in Nagpur. Initial reports suggested he could miss the series.

However, Hyderabad coach DB Ravi Teja played down the fears, describing the procedure as minor and stating that Tilak could be match-ready within three to four days.

Recent Form and Bigger Picture

Tilak featured in only two Vijay Hazare matches this season, scoring 143 runs, including a 109 against Chandigarh on January 3. His fitness carries added significance due to his role as a key middle-order batter in India’s T20 plans and his impact in the recent Asia Cup triumph.

Looking Ahead

While no return date has been confirmed, Tilak’s message reflects confidence and momentum. For now, the focus shifts to his recovery timeline and the belief that his wait to bat again will be short.
