Virat Kohli’s decision to step away from Test cricket has sparked fresh debate, and one comment in particular has triggered a sharp response from within his family. Former India cricketer and commentator Sanjay Manjrekar’s recent remarks on Kohli’s retirement did not go down well with the batter’s brother, Vikas Kohli, who took to social media to express his displeasure.

Manjrekar had suggested that Kohli chose to continue in the comparatively “easier” white-ball formats rather than address what he termed shortcomings in red-ball cricket. The observation quickly caught attention, prompting Vikas to post a cryptic but strongly worded message on Threads. Without naming anyone directly, he criticised those who, in his view, rely on Virat Kohli’s name to remain relevant.

“SEEMS LIKE LOGON KI DAAL ROTI NAHI CHALTI. BINA VIRAT KOHLI KA NAAM LIYE HUE,” Vikas wrote, a remark many fans interpreted as a clear dig at Manjrekar. While there has been no official confirmation of the target of his comment, speculation among followers was swift and widespread.

This isn’t the first instance of friction between Vikas and the former India batter-turned-commentator. In the past, Vikas had also lashed out at Manjrekar after comments were made about Kohli’s strike rate during the IPL.
