"Indian team is very strong and able to beat any team anywhere in the world," Ganguly told reporters here. He said selectors should give space to young players.
"Suresh Raina has a lot of talent but he has to prove himself in est matches," he said. To another question, Ganguly said injury was the main reason for India`s drubbing during the last England tour. "Zaheer Khan`s injury weekened the bowling strength," he said.
Stating that the forthcoming Australia tour will be tough for India, Ganguly said he would continue to play in IPL and Ranji Trophy matches. "Currently, however, I am enjoying myself as a cricket commentator," he said.
Referring to the cricketers of Bihar, he wondered why cricket had failed to develop in the state despite thrust on sports. "It is a strange matter... I am sorry to know about the plight of cricket and budding cricket talents in Bihar in absence of opportunity," he said.
Advising the cricketers hard work, Ganguly said, "I think a day will come when they will also be a part of the team at national level." Ganguly was here on a day-long tour for sales promotion of a private company.
