Ananya Panday is a year older now. The daughter of actor Chunkey Pandey was launched with a lot of fanfare by Karan Johar through his home production in Student of the Year 2 in 2019. More than three years later she is still struggling to find herself a distinct identity in Bollywood.
Her affairs with Kartik Aaryan, Ishaan Khatter, and of late with Aditya Roy Kapur have hogged a lot of limelight. Ditto with her red carpet appearances and ramp walks. But what she has failed to receive is recognition as an actress. Ananya Panday continues to be a pretty young star kid with a cute face but she is far from being called an accomplished actress.
Worked in multiple projects but failed to impress
Be it her luck or good family connections despite delivering flop after flop, she continues to get movies which can be called a privilege that the outsiders never can enjoy. Her launch movie did not perform well.
While Student of the Year launched Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan, and Sidharth Malhotra in a big way and made them stars, the second movie from the franchise that also featured Tara Sutaria and Tiger Shroff was a dud.
Despite that, she got good movies like Pati Patni Aur Woh with Kartik Aaryan, Liger with South Indian superstar Vijay Deverakonda, and Khaali Peeli with Ishaan Khatter.
Koki’s movie which also featured Bhumi Pednekar along with Ananya did a decent business and most of its credit went to Kartik Aaryan and his newly found stardom. Liger was the Bollywood debut movie for Vijay Deverakonda and he worked very hard to get the physique of a boxer.
Even though the movie was a definite flop, Vijay’s hard work was visible. But Ananya Panday simply could not make any mark. Be it glamour, acting, or even dancing she just could not impress in any department.
Khaali Peeli released on OTT was also a washout. Her other OTT release Gehraiyaan was a complex film on relationships but again it was Deepika Padukone who stole all the limelight.
In Dream Girl 2 Ayushmann was both the hero and the heroine
Dream Girl 2 released this year had a decent run at the box office and all credit goes to Ayushmann Khurrana who was both the hero and the heroine of the film. Ananya Panday had very little to do in the movie and was easily replaceable.
