Vadodara: A old lioness was rescued from a well in Mandlikapur village of Junagadh district of Gujarat, forest officials said.
Anita Karan, district forest officer at Junagadh told PTI on Saturday that the lioness was tranquilised and pulled out of the well with a rope on Monday from village well and sent to Sakkarbaug Zoo at Junagadh for treatment.
The lioness will be set free into the wild after the treatment is over, she said.
Dipak Pandya, Range forest officer who had supervised the rescue operation said the lioness fell into the well chasing a wild boar and was rescued after 48 hours of being in the waterbody.
