Lord Jagannath's juggernaut is taking shape! Here are a few glimpses from Puri where chariot construction for the annual car festival is underway in full swing.
Chariots of the Holy Trinity - Lord Balabhadra, Lord Jagannath, and Devi Subhadra - taking shape at the Bada Danda in Puri.
This is at the 'Ratha Khala' (traditional workshop). After the installation of the 'Chauda Nahaka', the fitting of 'Dhamaka' and third 'Bhuin' is completed followed by the setting of 'Potala Khambi and Potala Pareni'.
These clothes or the fabrics are designed in a form which will cover the upper structure of the three chariots of the sibling deities.
The colouring of the wheels and 'Kona Guja' of 3 chariots started with first white layer. The painting of the 'Parswa' deities is also underway.
The making of the ‘Potala’ and construction of ‘Para Bhadi’ of three chariots is over. Also, logs have been fitted in the front portion of the altar.
