OPSC Odisha Civil Services Exam 2025: 151 posts to be added after CM Mohan Majhi’s intervention

The Odisha government, on Saturday, directed the Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) to fill 151 additional vacancies across key cadres. These include 14 posts in the Odisha Administrative Service (OAS), 113 posts in the Odisha Revenue Service (ORS), and 16 posts in the Odisha Treasury Service (OTS).

The number of vacancies under the Odisha Civil Services (OCS) Examination was increased after Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi intervened, directing the filling up of additional posts that were earlier left out of the recruitment process.

The move comes in the backdrop of sharp criticism after the earlier OPSC notification did not include any vacancies in the OAS and ORS cadres, despite these being among the most sought-after services in the state civil administration.

Earlier Notification Triggered Backlash

The OPSC had, on Friday, released the notification for the Odisha Civil Services Examination-2025, announcing recruitment to 314 posts across seven services. However, the absence of vacancies in OAS, ORS and other major cadres triggered dissatisfaction and uncertainty among candidates preparing specifically for these services.

Several aspirants had pointed out that the earlier notification showed zero vacancies in OAS and ORS, which they said was inconsistent with existing vacancies and past recruitment trends.

Government Steps In

Following these developments, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reviewed the issue and directed the authorities to ensure that vacant posts are filled, sources said. Acting on the direction, the government formally approached the OPSC with a request to include the additional 151 posts in the ongoing recruitment process.

The OPSC is now expected to take necessary procedural steps in line with the government’s request. An official update from the Commission regarding the revised vacancy position is awaited.
