In a shocking incident, a 34-year-old man was stabbed to death by fellow villagers allegedly due to a petty dispute over money at Reddi Damadara village under Dharakote police limits in Ganjam district late Sunday night.
The deceased has been identified as D. Shankar Reddy, a resident of Reddi Damadara. According to reports, unidentified miscreants attacked Shankar with a knife, inflicting severe injuries on his abdomen. Locals immediately rushed him to Aska Sub-Divisional Hospital (SDH) in critical condition.
After preliminary treatment, arrangements were made to shift him to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur after his condition further deteriorated. However, he succumbed to his injuries on the way.

The exact reason behind the attack remains unclear. Police have arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation to determine the motive and identify the perpetrators involved. Tension prevailed in the area following the incident, while the body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
“Some people had a previous enmity with him over some money in some dance show. As the two broke out in a fight, the accused stabbed my brother. At least 4-5 are involved, but one of them has stabbed him. The incident occurred after 11 PM,” alleged Shankar’s elder brother, Sanjay Kumar Reddy.
Authorities said further details will emerge after the investigation is completed.
