Man attempts self-immolation in front of alleged lover's house

A shocking incident has surfaced from Ganjam district in Odisha, where a man allegedly attempted self-immolation in front of a woman’s house on Saturday. 

The incident took place at Haridapadar village under the jurisdiction of Aska Kotinada police station.

The man has been identified as Sunil Nahak, who allegedly attempted to end his life by setting himself on fire outside the residence of a woman with whom he was allegedly in a relationship. 

The man was rescued and rushed to the nearby hospital in a critical condition.

The Case Details:

Sources indicate that Nahak and the woman had been in a relationship for nearly 10 years. Preliminary information further suggests that both Nahak and the woman are married, though the motive behind the attempt remains unclear.

On Saturday, Nahak reportedly went to the woman’s house and set himself on fire. He sustained severe burn injuries on various parts of his body and was later shifted to Aska hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.

Meanwhile, the exact reason behind the extreme step is yet to be ascertained. 

Police are yet to issue an official statement on the incident, and further investigation is expected to determine the sequence of events and circumstances leading to the alleged self-immolation attempt.
