Bhubaneswar man found dead in guest house; extramarital affair suspected

Police sources said foam was seen coming out of the deceased’s nose, while blood was reportedly oozing from his mouth.

A body of a man was recovered under suspicious circumstances from a guest house near Nalco Square in Bhubaneswar on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as 42-year-old Sarat Chandra Bhattacharya.

A native of Kolkata, Bhattacharya had been residing with his family in an apartment in Bhubaneswar.

According to reports, personnel of the Maitree Vihar police station recovered the body after breaking open the door of a guest house room, which was found locked from the inside. Police sources said foam was seen coming out of the deceased’s nose, while blood was reportedly oozing from his mouth.

Bhattacharya had reportedly left his residence on December 19, informing his family that he was going out. When he failed to return, he later contacted his family and said his return would be delayed. However, after losing contact with him, his wife lodged a missing complaint at Dhauli police station the following day.

During the course of the investigation, Bhattacharya’s wife alleged the involvement of a young woman. She claimed that a woman was present with her husband at the guest house and allegedly fled the spot after his death. The wife has also alleged that Bhattacharya was murdered.

The Maitree Vihar police have initiated a detailed investigation and stated that all possible angles are being examined to ascertain the exact cause of death.
