Puri: Vigilance sleuths on Wednesday raided the houses and offices of Puri District Assistant Conservator of Forest (ACF). The anti-corruption agency conducted simultaneous raids at five places including the house belonging to the ACF, Prashant Swain over disproportionate assets charges.

According to sources, five teams of vigilance conducted raids at Swain’s rented house, office in Puri, in-law’s residence, ancestral house at Balianta in Sisolo and his official residence at Mahabhoi Nagar in Bhubaneswar.

During the raid at the Puri office, the anti-corruption agency reportedly seized Rs 43,000 cash, bank passbooks and many incriminating documents, sources informed.

Meanwhile, the vigilance department sleuths have taken Swain into custody for further interrogation, said vigilance inspector, Madan Pradhan.

“We have taken Swain into custody for further interrogation. We have laid our hands on many important documents during the raids. We have seized Rs 43,000 cash during the search,” Pradhan informed.

Meanwhile, the senior forest official has refuted the allegation levelled against him.

“Vigilance officials conducted raids at my residence today. I am not sure on what charges my house was raided. During the search, the officials did not recover anything. I am waiting for the probe to end,” Swain defended.
