Bhubaneswar: In yet another incident of loot during COVID-19 lockdown in Bhubaneswar, miscreants allegedly barged into the house of a lady DSP (Vigilance) and looted gold ornaments at gunpoint here on Sunday.

As per reports, two bike-borne miscreants looted a gold chain and bangles from Vigilance DSP Tanuja Mohanty when she was busy in cleaning her house located at Unit-3 area under Kharavela Nagar police limits. The incident occurred between 6: 45 am and 7 am today.

“One of the miscreants first came and asked my wife to speak to someone over phone. Sensing something fishy, my wife tried to close the gate but he managed to enter our house. When I tried to rescue my wife, the criminal pulled out a gun from his pocket and threatened to kill us,” said Tanuja’s husband, Debi Prasanna Das.

Das further said, “My wife had grabbed the collar of the miscreant but we didn't resist after he pulled out the gun.”

Speaking on the security and other patrolling measures, Das said that despite lockdown, there is no police patrolling in the area.

“How can people feel safe when such an incident is happening with a senior officer,” questioned Das.

Following the incident, senior police officials of Commissionerate Police rushed to the spot and have started an investigation.
