Balasore: The Balasore Vigilance Division has registered a case against an additional government pleader (AGP) Bhubanananda Das on the direction of Orissa High Court for allegedly holding a key position in the ruling Biju Janata Dal during his 26 years of service and also misappropriating funds.
A petition in this regard was filed in the Orissa High Court by a local lawyer Prashant Kumar Pradhan who has accused Das of embezzling funds and involving in corrupt activities while holding the post of Vice-President in BJD’s Balasore district unit.
Pradhan initially lodged a complaint against Das in Vigilance office and Balasore district Collector’s office. But his petition was rejected by the Collectorate and Das was given a clean chit in connection with the case.
Das later knocked the doors of Orissa High Court which accepted his petition and directed the Vigilance Court to registered a complaint against the AGP.
Speaking in connection with the incident, Pradhan alleged, “Das is involved in several corrupt activities. He has sanctioned lakhs of rupees by submitting false bills."
When asked, AGP Bhubanananda Das refused to comment on the matter saying the matter is sub-judice in the high court.
