Bhubaneswar: With mystery shrouding the death of motivational speaker and social activist Aditya Dash whose body was found on railway tracks on July 7 near Lingaraj Station in Bhubaneswar, Union Minister Pratap Sarangi on Wednesday demanded a joined investigation by Government Railway Police (GRP) and Commissionerate Police into the case.

In a letter, the Union Minister has urged CM Patnaik to instruct the Twin City Police Commissioner to take up the death case of Aditya Dash jointly with the GRP.

“I request you to kindly instruct the Police Commissioner, Bhubaneswar-Cuttack to take up the death of Aditya Dash with the GRP to carry out a joint investigation which is free and fair,” Sarangi wrote in his letter.

Stating that the death of the social activist is shrouded in mystery as doubts are being raised in the minds of the people that it might be a cold blooded murder than a suicide, Sarangi opined, “A prompt investigation into the cause of the death and exemplary punishment of those, if found guilty, will go a long way in restoring the people's faith in the rule of law.”

Earlier on July 18, a four-member team of GRP officials interrogated Dash’s mother-in-law and brother-in-law at their residence at Rajendra Nagar in Cuttack. They were questioned for about an hour regarding the marital relationship between Dash and his wife Bidyashree.

Prior to that, the GRP had also questioned Dash’s parents and wife Bidyashree in connection with his death. A special team led by GRP DSP had visited their Sunderpada residence and conducted marathon questioning for over three hours.
