Mrunal Manmay Dash

Bhubaneswar: The death case of motivational speaker Aditya Dash took another turn on Friday after the loco pilot of Purushottam Express denied running over anyone on the fateful night.

The Government Railway Police (GRP) that has registered a murder case in this regard quizzed Bishnu Charan Sethi, the loco pilot of Purushottam Express that crossed Lingaraj Station Passenger Halt at around 8:30 pm, the time around when Aditya reportedly died.

According to Sethi, nobody came under his train that night. "My train left Retang station at around 8:20 pm and reached Bhubaneswar station at 8:40 pm. As far as I remember, my train didn't hit anybody between those stations," said Sethi.

"Though I cannot distinctly remember the time I passed Lingaraj PH, but I am sure that my train didn't hit anything. One can usually hear some sound if the engine hits something on the tracks," added Sethi.

It is pertinent to mention here that the autopsy report of Aditya Dash had revealed that the victim had a fatal head injury that led to the death. Based on this finding, Bhubaneswar GRP had initiated a murder probe into the mysterious death of Aditya, whose body was recovered from the railway tracks near Lingaraj Station on July 7, 2020.

In another development, the GRP has got hold of two CCTV footages just 200 meters away from Lingaraj Station that promises to shed some more light on Dash's death.

Later in the day, the DSP of Bhubaneswar GRP, Chandrasekhar Sahoo questioned Dash's wife Bidyashree and her in-laws. However, Sahoo denied to comment anything about the questioning as that may compromise the investigation.
