Rayagada: In its first major action in the stone quarry blast case at Okilaguda, the Rayagada district administration has suspended the Assistant Revenue Inspector (ARI) of Gunpur Sadar, Anup Kumar Martha.

Martha was in charge of the stone quarry where the blast had occurred on October 16. At least three labourers, including two women had died and six others sustained critical injuries in the mishap.

After conducting the preliminary enquiry, the district administration has also recommended the State government to take disciplinary action against Gunpur Tehsildar Laxmi Narayan Sabat.

Meanwhile, the administration has also issued notices to Revenue Inspector Santosh Panda and Assistant Revenue Inspector Santosh Das.

Police have filed a case in the incident and further investigation is underway. A man has been detained in this connection for questioning.

It is worth mentioning that the explosion occurred during stone blasting at the quarry. Three labourers had died on the spot after being hit by stone pieces following the explosion.
