Puri: After spending a night on their respective chariots, the divine siblings Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and Mahaprabhu Jagannath will head to the Adapa Mandap of the Gundicha Temple in a ceremonial procession today.
Ahead of their escort to Adapa Mandap, the servitors will perform all rituals of the Holy Trinity on the chariots. After Sandhya Alati and Dhupa, the ritualistic Goti Pahandi (individual procession) of the Lords will begin at 4 pm.
Initially the deity of Madan Mohan Ramakrushna will be ushered in to the Gundicha temple followed by Chakraraj Sudarshan. Subsequently, the eldest of the Holy Trinity Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra and finally Lord Jagannath will enter the temple.
The deities will be placed on the Ratna Singhasan (golden throne) of the ‘Adapa Mandap’. As the Covid pandemic restrictions are still in place and public gathering is not allowed in Srimandir and all religious places across the State, the Adapa Mandap darshan of the deities is not allowed.
Meanwhile, the administration has withdrawn the district-wide curfew imposed during pulling of chariots from Srimandir to Gundicha temple. However, some selected parts of the seaside town of Puri especially the area near Gundicha Temple will continue to remain under curfew.
Speaking about the restrictions, Puri Collector Balwant Singh said, “The areas adjacent to Gundicha temple like the stretch from Badasankha Bus Stand to Matiapada Chhak to remain under the purview of curfew. The restrictions will remain in force till 10 pm today. Emphasis is being given to ensure that nobody enter the restricted areas.”
