Bhubaneswar: Rain and thunderstorm will lash several parts of Odisha in the coming days till October 2, predicted India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday.

The trough from the cyclonic circulation over east Bihar and adjoining Sub – Himalayan West Bengal & Sikkim to West-central Bay of Bengal off Andhra Pradesh coast across Gangetic West Bengal & Coastal Odisha extending 3.1 km above mean sea level has become less marked. Under its influence, several districts of Odisha will experience rain and thunderstorm activities.

As per IMD’s latest bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers is likely to occur at a few places over the districts of South Coastal Odisha and at one or two places over the rest of the districts of the state in the next 24 hours.

Weather advisory issued by IMD:

Day 1 (valid from 1330 hrs IST of September 29 up to 0830 hrs IST of September 30)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Koraput.

Day 2 (valid from 1330 hrs IST of September 30 up to 0830 hrs IST of October 1)

Yellow Warning ( Be Updated): Thunderstorm with lightning likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Dhenkanal and Mayurbhanj.

Day 2 (valid from 1330 hrs IST of October 1 up to 0830 hrs IST of October 2)

Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and at a few places over the districts of Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Boudh, Kandhamal, Rayagada and at one or two places over the rest districts of the state.

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Gajapati, Ganjam, Khurda, Puri, Nayagarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Kandhamal.

Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Mayurbhanj and Balasore.
