Puri: The Jagannath temple in Puri is all set to dazzle in a new look as plans are afoot to coat the gates of the sacred shrine with silver. As per reports, a devotee has evinced interest to donate 1,920 kg silver to the temple in this regard.

Nearly six gates including Beharana gate, Jaya-Vijaya gate and Kalahata will be silver-plated which will give a new look to the temple and play a key role in preserving the gigantic gates, informed Madhab Mohapatra, Srimandir Managing Committee member.

Shree Jagannath Temple Administrator (Development), Ajay Kumar Jena informed that a devotee has shown interest to donate silver and a proposal has been moved for silver plating of the gates.

“Three gates of the temple will have silver plating and the design is now being finalized,” said Jena.
