Cuttack: Following a call by the Orissa High Court Bar Association, lawyers of all the bars in Cuttack have decided to boycott their respective courts and observe cease work from today.
The decision in this regard was taken in a meeting of all bar association members held at the High Court Bar Association yesterday, HC bar body chief Ashok Mohapatra said.
"In view of the state government's recent decision to abolish the SAT and, following a request made by the SAT bar, we have decided to abstain from court activities for a day on Wednesday.Accordingly, this decision has been communicated to all other court bars of the city," Mohapatra added.
Meanwhile, Bhubaneswar Bar Association and SAT Bar Association has been striking against the State cabinet’s decision to abolish SAT.
According to sources, the two associations yesterday met governor and raised the issue before him.
Besides, the two bars have said they will move to High Court chief Justice, President and Prime Minister of India if their demands are not met, the sources added.
