Cuttack: A team has been formed under the chairmanship of chief district medical officer (CDMO) of Cuttack to probe into the recent spate of infant deaths at the Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Post Graduate Institute of Pediatrics (SVPPGIP), better known as Sishu Bhavan.

The team which comprises three additional district medical officers (ADMOs) is expected to submit its report to the State government by today evening.

It may be noted in the last five days, 26 infants died at the premier pediatrics hospital. The parents and relatives of these infants have put blame on doctors, nurses and other medical staff alleging lapses in treatment.

Meanwhile, the Health department is also holding a high-level meeting at the State secretariat in this regard today.
