Bhubaneswar: The Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar on Monday issued thunderstorm and heavy rain warning for several districts in Odisha for the next four days.

As per the mid-day weather bulletin issued by the met centre, the monsoon trough at mean sea level now passes through centre of low pressure area over West Rajasthan & neighbourhood, Mathura, Bahraich and close to the foothills of Himalayas. Another branch of the monsoon trough at mean sea level passes through Sub-Himalayan West Bengal to Manipur across Assam.

Weather Forecast For Next 5 Days

Day-1 (valid from 1330 hrs IST of 31.08.2020 up to 0830 hrs IST of 01.09.2020)

Yellow Warning: Thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Malkangiri and Koraput.

Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Gajapati.

Day-2 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 01.09.2020 up to 0830 hrs IST of 02.09.2020)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapara, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and Malkangiri.
Similarly, thunderstorm with lightning is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of coastal Odisha, Bolangir, Sonepur, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar and Mayurbhanj on the same day.

Day-3 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 02.09.2020 up to 0830 hrs IST of 03.09.2020)

Yellow Warning: Heavy to very heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj and heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Malkangiri, Koraput, Rayagada, Sundargarh, Deogarh, Sambalpur and Bolangir.

Day-4 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 03.09.2020 up to 0830 hrs IST of 04.09.2020)

Yellow Warning: Heavy rainfall is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Nuapada, Jharsuguda and Sundergarh.

Day-5 (valid from 0830 hrs IST of 04.09.2020 up to 0830 hrs IST of 05.09.2020)

While no warning has been issued for the day, there are still chances of light to moderate rain or thundershower at a few places over some of the districts of Odisha, informed the MeT department.
