Dhenkanal: The continuous rise in COVID-19 cases in Dhenkanal has forced the district administration to announce a two-day shutdown in the municipality area of Dhenkanal town.

Though the district administration has announced a two-day shutdown in the municipality area (August 27 & 28), the town will remain shut further due to the weekend shutdown on August 29 and 30 too.

The shutdown restrictions will be effective in the town from tomorrow, August 27.

Following the shutdown announcement, markets in the town witnessed a massive footfall of people. As per the announcement, markets will remain open in the town till 6 PM today.

The administration will reportedly carry out an intensive contact tracing on August 27 and 28 to contain further spread of the virus in the area.

A total of 67 COVID-19 positive cases were detected from the district on Wednesday, taking the total tally of positives to 1296.
