Bhubaneswar: Odisha on Saturday reported it’s highest ever one-day recoveries after as many as 237 more patients were tested negative for SARS-nCoV. State’s total recovery tally meanwhile has jumped to 3534.

The maximum number of recoveries has been reported from Cuttack where a total of 70 patients have been discharged followed by Khurda with 54 recovered cases. Similarly, Jagatsinghpur, Kandhamal and Ganjam have reported 20, 19, and 17 cases of recoveries respectively in the State during last 24 hours, information released by the Odisha Health and Family Welfare department said.

Other recovered cases belong to Bhadrak and Mayurbhanj with both reporting 9 recoveries each. 7 patients have been discharged from Dhenkanal and Puri, 4 each from Kendrapara and Nayagarh, 2 each from Kalahandi, Malkangiri, Sambalpur, and 1 each case each from Boudh, Jharsuguda, and Sundergarh.

Earlier today, the COVID-19 death toll in the State rose to 12 with a 60-year-male patient from Puri district succumbing to the disease, the health department informed.

Overall Coronavirus situation continued to show an upward trend in the State with detection of as many as 179 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours. Odisha’s total COVID tally has jumped to 4856.

The biggest spike of 57 cases was reported from Ganjam district, followed by Khurda  (27), Keonjhar (18 ) and Cuttack (15). At least 18 NDRF and Odisha Fire Services personnel, who had returned from Amphan duty in West Bengal, have also tested positive for COVID-19.

As per data shared by the Union Health Ministry, Odisha is presently 4th in the country in terms of reporting Covid-19 recoveries as of June 20.
