Bhubaneswar: Odisha on Sunday reported highest single-day spike of 304 new COVID-19 positive cases, taking the total cases beyond 5000-mark.  The State's tally now stands at 5160.

A highest 47 cases were reported from Gajapati district, followed by 40 cases from Ganjam, 29 cases from Jagatsinghpur and 25 from Jharsuguda.

Out of the total 5160 COVID-19 cases,  Ganjam district accounts for maximum cases. The total COVID-19 cases in the district has now reached 893 including 228 active cases and 658 recoveries.

Of the 13 new COVID-19 cases reported from Cuttack district, three are from Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) limits.

Apart from Ganjam,  COVID-19 positive cases are also on a rise in Khurda and Cuttack district. The total cases in Khurda district has reached 444 while Cuttack has reported 394 COVID-19 positive cases. The active cases in Khurda and Cuttack stand at 76 and 80, respectively.

Earlier on Saturday, Odisha reported highest ever one-day recoveries after as many as 237 more patients recuperated from SARS-nCoV. The maximum recoveries were reported from Cuttack district where a total of 70 patients recovered from COVID-19 followed by Khurda with 54 recovered cases. The State’s total recovery tally meanwhile has jumped to 3534.

As many as 179 new COVID-19 cases were also reported in Odisha yesterday.
