Bhubaneswar: Odisha government on Wednesday announced to engage 7000 temporary health workers at Covid Care Homes. The Covid care homes are covering 6798 gram panchayats of the State.

"The base level health activity in all Covid Care Homes will be managed by unemployed and trained ANMs. In case unemployed ANMs are not available, unemployed registered Staff Nurses or Pharmacists can be engaged in place of ANMs." State Health and Family Welfare Department in its notification stated.

The government also mentioned details about the daily allowances for health workers of different categories. The ANMs will be paid Rs 850 per day while Staff Nurses and Pharmacists will get Rs 1000 per day.

The notification clearly mentioned, "The engagement is purely temporary, for a period of three months or till the Covid Care Homes are functional, whichever is earlier, keeping in view the emergency situation arising due to Covid-19."

"The engagement is terminable at any period of time without assigning any reason thereof. Further, such engagement does not confer any right on the engagee for any future engagement/ regularisation of such engagement." the Health department terms and conditions read.

The engagement of the health staff shall be done by respective Chief District Medical Officers and Public Health Officer through walk-in-interview in a transparent manner, with proper advertisement, depending on the number of Covid Homes in their respective district.
