Rayagada: The Gandhi Institute of Engineering and Technology University (GIET University) at Gunupur in the district has been closed for three days following detection Covid-19 cases in the campus.

The varsity will remain closed till April 10 from today, a letter issued by the University registrar stated.

The decision to close the campus was taken following an order from the Sub-collector, Gunupur, it added.

The closure of the campus would help curbing the spread of the virus as restrictions have been imposed on the entry and exit.

Students and staff staying outside can’t enter the varsity premises, the registrar said.

Those who are staying inside the campus have been advised to cooperate with the medical team.

However, all essential services will continue as usual, the letter read.
