Cuttack: Of the 244 new COVID19 cases reported from the district, Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) has recorded 92 positive cases in the last 24 hours taking the city's total tally to 13,417 on Saturday.

According to CMC, 52 cases are quarantine cases, while 40 are local contact cases. Meanwhile, another 273 patients have recuperated from the virus in a day, CMC tweeted.

Earlier in the day, Odisha reported 2,854 new cases taking the tally to 2,49,693. Of the fresh cases, 1,659 patients were quarantine cases, while 1,195 were local contact cases, informed State I&PR department.

As many as 9 districts reported a daily surge of over 100 cases. For the first time in several weeks, daily cases in Khordha district dropped below the 400-mark with 393 new positives. Cuttack reported 244 case followed by Sundergarh (143), Angul (131) and Mayurbhanj (127) districts.

As per government data, the death toll in the state breached the 1000-mark with 15 more fatalities in the last 24 hours – five from Khordha district including two deaths in Bhubaneswar, one death from Balasore, two from Cuttack, while one each succumbed from Mayurbhanj, Sundergarh, Kendrapara, Jajpur, Balasore, Jagatsinghpur, Ganjam, and Bolangir districts.
