Berhampur: Despite witnessing a flattening of Covid-19 cases after series of stringent enforcement, the city administration of Berhampur will once again take up mass health screening in the city as a precautionary measure ahead of the festive season.

Informing in this regard, Berhampur Municipal Corporation (BeMC), Siddheshwar Baliram Bondar on Saturday said that a mass screening initiative will be undertaken from October 12 and will continue till October 20.

To further contain the spread of #COVID in BeMC, special campaign for checking oxygen level, temperature and screening of co-morbid patients will be done during the period. All citizens are requested to cooperate during this campaign to stop the spreading, the city administration said.

The Commissioner said that the step is being taken in view of the rise in economic activities and public rush during the forthcoming Durga Puja festivities.

The authorities have informed that as many as 120 teams have been formed for the mass exercise. The health screening teams will comprise doctors and pharmacists.

As on October 9, the total Covid cases in Berhampur stood at 3754. As many as 3581 patients have recovered from the disease while there are 104 active cases. Total death toll in the city stands at 69.
