Bhadrak: Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA from Chandbali constituency, Byomakesh Ray has tested positive for Covid-19. The legislator confirmed the news through a post on his Facebook account.

Ray said that he is stable now and advised all those who came in contact with him over the last few days to be cautious and isolate themselves.

The legislator expressed regret for failing to serve the flood-affected people of his constituency.

“Tested Covid positive. Requesting all those who have got close contact with me to be cautious and isolate themselves. With the blessings of God I am stable now. Feeling very sad not to be able to serve the flood affected people of Chandabali,” Byomakesh Ray wrote on his Facebook page.

On Sunday, senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and Badamba MLA Debi Prasad Mishra had tested positive for COVID-19.

Similarly several MLAs from the BJD including Ananta Narayan Jena (Bhubaneswar Central), Sudhansu Sekhar Parida (Remuna), Soumya Ranjan Patnaik (Khandapada), Srikant Sahu (Polsara), Prasant Behera (Salipur) and Susant Singh (Bhatli) had contracted the virus earlier.

Apart from the ruling party legislators, two BJP lawmakers- Sukanta Nayak (Nilgiri) and Suresh Pujari (Bargarh MP)- had also tested positive for the virus.
