Bhubaneswar: Senior Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader and Badamba MLA Debi Prasad Mishra has tested positive for COVID-19. Mishra confirmed the news though a facebook post.

“The official communication of my test report revealed that I have been tested positive for the virus. The test reports of my family members and other employees have come negative,” Mishra wrote in his social media page.

The legislator said he was under home isolation since yesterday after his driver tested positive for the virus.

He further informed that he was asymptomatic and his body temperature and oxygen level are normal. “As I am a diabetic, I am consulting with doctor,” he said.

“I am in a good health and doing urgent work by telephone and will continue to do so. However, I request all not to contact me for some days for any trivial issues,” the legislator added.

Earlier, MLAs from the BJD, Ananta Narayan Jena (Bhubaneswar Central), Sudhansu Sekhar Parida (Remuna), Soumya Ranjan Patnaik (Khandapada), Srikant Sahu (Polsara), Prasant Behera (Salipur) and Susant Singh (Bhatli) had tested positive for COVID-19.

Apart from the ruling party legislators, two BJP lawmakers- Sukanta Nayak (Nilgiri) and Suresh Pujari (Bargarh MP)- have also tested positive for the virus.

BJD MP from Bhadrak, Manjulata Mandal had tested positive for coronavirus recently.
